In a little over a year Kevin had developed from a dirt rider who took to the tarmac once a year at the Aquafest to a racer who was destined to take on the world. If when he started road racing he was a foot dragging, wheel hopping maniac by the end of 1984 when he had his debut test for Yoshimura at Willow Springs he was looking like a real racer. Even if underneath it all he might still have been a knee dragging, wheel hopping maniac.
