Running his first season in 1986 with Suzuki Kevin agreed to run three races, Assen (Holland), Spa (Belgium) and MIsano (Italy). He then agreed to do three more races in '87, Jerez (Spain), Le Mans, (France) and Monza (Italy) while concentrating on riding Superbike in the US. |

Several top ten finishes in the few Grand Prix's that he started secured a permanent ride for Kevin the following year. |
