Kevin Schwantz - 1991 World GP MotorCycle Championship Title Tables

The most sparkling talent in the 500 class, Kevin showed a different face in 1991. Previously the long-legged Texan was something of a win-or-crash merchant. In 1991 he resolved to stop trying to compensate for material weaknesses with courage and talent, and to ride within the capabilities of hi machine. With 5 victories and fewer DNF's Kevin was now poised to make a full force run at the GP championship.

"The mental concentration can be the toughest side of racing. When the bike is working right, when everything is peaches and cream, there is really not a lot to do physically, it's 60% mental."

"Even when the bike is right, then mental side still takes it out of you and a Grand Prix is long enough that by the end of the race most everyone is pretty well hammered if not physically, then mentally, that is about all you can do, forty five minutes to an hour on a bike. every little thing is just important. One little mistake and your on your back."
