1992 started solidly for Kevin, only to be interrupted by injury in the third race. After that he race-crashed three more times, the first being the extraordinary T-boneing by Eddie Lawson at Assen. The second crash was attributable to weakness through resultant injuries - he came back extraordinarily quickly,- and the third was on spilled oil or coolant. |

Some thought his new approach meant that he was already past his best, and he added only one victory to his previous total of 18. But it was a typically swashbuckling ride at Mugello which proved he still had his old race-winning ability as well as the new-found consistency that, with a bit more good luck, might have brought him his first long-awaited World Championship. |
